IN BRIEF: In an offensive battle, Penn State Fayette outlasts Central Penn 124-119 to secure the victory in the first men's Division II consolation game. 1st Team All-American, Matt McKenna, led the way for the Nittany Lions with game-highs of 38 points and 18 rebounds.
ON THE COURT: First half action featured a high scoring contest between the two teams with the Nittany Lions taking the slight edge, 62-57. Led by Matt Mckenna with 18 points in the first half, the Nittany Lions shot 59% from the floor but could not shake the Knights due to be outrebounded by a margin of close to 3-1. The knights held a commanding rebounding advantage of 30-13 that included 19 offensive rebounds, which turned into 28 second chance points.
The pace continued in the second half as each team scored 62 points in the half while combining to shoot 50% from the floor. However, the Nittany Lions used a late 11-0 run to secure it's largest lead of the game and ultimately the victory.
USCAA Player of the Year, Devon Dorsey, led five Knights in double-figures with 27 points and 12 rebounds. In addition to McKenna, forward Jacob Bronder chipped in with 27 points for the Nittany Lions.
Also in this game, Penn State Fayette set the USCAA Men's Division II National Basketball Championship single game record for most points with 124 while Central set the record for most field goals made with 47.
