#3 Albany College of Pharmacy 50 - #6 University of Cincinnati-Clermont
UNIONTOWN, PA- In a tale of two halves the third-seeded Albany College of Pharmacy Lady Panthers helf on to defeat the sixth-seeded University of Cincinnati-Clermont Lady Cougars 50-45. UC Clermont had only 13 points at halftime after shooting just 16% from the field. Meanwhile, the Panthers held an 18 point advantage after connecting on 45% of their shots.
In the second-half Tess Jenike poured in 15 points, and Ashley Keith added eight for a Lady Cougars team that reduced a double-digit defecit to two with 1:13 remaining in the game. Clermont would fail to score again allowing the Panthers to move on to the second-round of the Women's Division II basketball National Championships.
Albany's attack was led by sophomore forward Taylor Sullivan who scored 17 points on 6-9 shooting and collected nine rebounds. As a team Albany was able to dominating the boards, winning the rebounding battle 51 to 33. Jenike, a sophomore, led the way for Cincinnati-Clermont with 17 points and six rebounds in the game.
Albany College will move on to face the winner of second-seeded Penn State Beaver and seventh-seeded University of Maine-Machias on Friday at 9:00 pm in the Main Arena.
