#2 Ave Maria University 57 - #3 Lindenwood Belleville 64
UNIONTOWN, PA- Led once again by USCAA Second-Team All-American Bernie Brown the Lindenwood Belleville Lady Lynx defeated the Ave Maria Lady Gyrenes 64-57 to advance to the Women's Division I National Championship Game.
Brown was one point shy of a triple-double finishing with 9 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. Diamond Burt also had a big game tallying 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists. It was a tightly contested game until 14:08 left in the second half when Lindenwood-Belleville took a lead that they wouldn't relinquish. The Lady Gyrenes cut Lindenwood's lead to four with 3:00 left but were unable to score against Lindenwood's tough defense the reminder of the game.
USCAA All-American forward Amy Myler led Ave Maria with 18 points (9-17), 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. The Lady Lynx held the Lady Gyrenes to just 30% shooting while forcing 14 turnovers. As a team Lindewood-Belleville dominated down low hauling in 47 rebounds versus Ave Maria's 40 and scoring more than half their points in the paint (36). Lindenwood-Belleville will move on to face the winner of Daemen College and Rochester College in the Women's Division I basketball final. That game will be played at 3:15 PM on Saturday at the Main Arena.
