#1 NHTI 74 - #9 Warren Wilson College
Uniontown, PA – In second round Men's Division II basketball action, the Warren Wilson College Owls upset the top-ranked NHTI Lynx by a score of 79-74. The Lynx entered the game with only two losses on the season, but it will be the Owls advancing to the third-round in the Men's Division II bracket.
In a game that featured several lead changes Warren Wilson College grabbed their largest lead of the game with 5:40 left just to watch NHTI cut it to two with 0:42 seconds left. From that point the Owls went on a 10-7 run, icing the game with ten free throws (10-12) to stave off the Lynx. Anthony Barringer led Warren Wilson with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. Raysean Love poured in 23 points (5-9 3PM-A) and Dan Jackson had 16 in the win.
The Lynx were paced by Besfort Syla's hot shooting from beyond the arc (5-10). Syla had 23 points in the game and joining him in double-figures were USCAA All-American Ahntwan Harris (22 points) and Terry Williams (14 points). As a team NHTI committed 32 fouls and watched the Owls convert 31-42 free-throws (73.8%) in the contest in what proved to be the difference down the stretch. Warren Wilson will move on to face the winner of the Central Penn and Penn State-Beaver game on Friday at 5:00 PM in the Main Arena.
