#1 Rochester College 59 - #5 Southern Virginia University 47
Uniontown, PA – In the first Men's Division I basketball semi-final Rochester College Warriors defeated the Southern Virginia University Knights 59-47. The win secures the Warriors a berth in their second-straight USCAA Men's Division I basketball National Championship game where they'll be looking to avenge their loss against Oakwood University last year.
Rochester was paced by Drew Maynard with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while also leading a stifling Rochester College defense that limited the Knights to just 25% shooting on the game. Brad Norman and Mike Gold added ten points apiece for a Rochester team that was in control of the game for the majority of the contest. The Warriors held a 26-10 advantage on points in the paint and capitalized on Southern Virginia mistakes with 23 points on turnovers.
The 2011 Men's Division I National Champion Knights got off to a quick start, but it was short lived as poor shooting plagued them throughout the contest. USCAA All-American Issac Jacobson had 10 points (2-10) to lead Southern Virginia. Second-Team USCAA All-American Anders Jacobson tallied nine points and six rebounds for the Knights in the losing effort.
Rochester College will seek their fifth USCAA basketball National Championship crown on Saturday at 12:30 in the Main Arena.
