UNIONTOWN,PA- The third-seeded Berkeley College (NY) Knights knocked of sixth-seeded Penn State York Lions 92-72 to advance to the next round of tournament play.
The reigning Hudson Valley Conference Champions were led by USCAA All-American Jose Stable's double-double performance (21 points and 10 rebounds). Junior guard Danzel Whyte also tallied a double-double as the Knights took one step closer to returning to the USCAA Division II National Championship game.
Heading into the game Penn State York was averaging an impressive 51.6% field goal percentage on the year, but was held to 45.5% in the game. The Lions' bench contributed 28 points versus 10 for the Knights. However, Berekely outrebounded Penn State York 49-28 and capitalized with 24 second chance points. The Knights will take on the winner of the Andrews University and Penn State Fayette game tomorrow in what could be a rematch of last year's Championship matchup.
