UNIONTOWN, PA- First they beat the seventh-seeded Vermont Tech then they defeated second-seeded Andrews University and now the cinderella Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions have defeated the third-seeded Berkeley College Knights 84-81.
Penn State Fayette forward David Winns posted his third double-double of the tournament talling 16 points and 18 rebounds. The 2012 USCAA All-American did the majority of his damage from the free-throw line (12-15) including several clutch shots down the stretch. 2013 Second Team USCAA All-American Brandon Cunningham led all scorers with 30 points while shooting 63% (5-8) from beyond the arc.
The Knights' USCAA All-American Honorable Mention Jovan Bovell led the Knights' scoring assault chipping in 23 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. 6'8 center Elijah Craig dominated the boards for Berkeley finishing with 13 rebounds to go along with 15 points (7-13). Fayette held the lead the majority of the game recording its largest lead with 5:45 left in the second half.
However, The resilient Knights rallied to cut the Roaring Lion's lead to just 1 point with 0:27 seconds left in the game on a Mario Guzman 3-pointer. Berkeley College was forced to foul and sent Brandon Cunningham, a 79% foul shooter to the line. Brandon hit the front end of the double bonus and David Winns reeled in Cunningham's back end miss to seal the game for the Roaring Lions. Penn State Fayette awaits the winner of the Warren Wilson and Penn State Beaver game in what could be a PSUAC championship matchup.
