#2 Ave Maria University 100 - #3 Daemen College
Uniontown, PA – On the strength of a 65 point second-half the Daemen College Wildcats defeated the Ave Maria Gyrenes 100-72 to advance to the Men's Division I basketball National Championship game. With the score tied at 48 and just over 14 minutes to go Daemen College went on a 19-2 run to break the game open and cruise to victory. The Wildcats shot a blistering 65% from the field in the second-half, including seven of their eight three-point field goals in the game.
Daemen College was paced by USCAA All-American Casey Sheehan with 20 points (13 in the second-half). Kadeem Johnson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, leading a Wildcats team on the boards that held a 50-30 rebounding advantage over the Gyrenes. Jordan Greene had another huge game off the bench with 17 points on 6-9 shooting, including 5-5 from three-point range in the second-half. Gerald Beverly added 15 points and six rebounds for the Wildcats in the win.
Ave Maria University was paced by Mike Coyle's 14 points (5-9), Matt Chattin's 13 points (5-10), and Akii Dean's 11 points (5-9). As a team the Gyrenes were hampered by poor foul shooting (11-24) and committed 20 turnovers that led to 25 Wildcat points. Damen College will advance to play Rochester College in the Men's Division I basketball National Championship game at 12:30 PM
