IN BRIEF: #4 Concordia College-Alabama rallied back from a nine point deficit to defeat #5 Florida National University, 99-93. With the win, the Hornets advance to the semifinals to face the #1 Daemen College Wildcats.
ON THE COURT: Florida National University shot 52% in the first half to take a 44-35 lead going into the break. The Conquistador's held a 14-8 advantage in bench points due to an 11-point, 5-rebound performance from Yves Goedschalk. Also with the hot hand for the Conquistador's was USCAA 2nd Team All-American, Quantavis Hall, who scored 15 first half points on 6-10 shooting.
The second half featured USCAA Honorable Mention All-American, Anthony Jones, aggressively attack the basket as he went 12-14 from the free throw line on his way to a 25-point second half performance to lead the Hornets to the come from behind win. As a team, the Hornets aggressive style of play earned them 52 free throw attempts while converting on 37 of them while also shooting 51% from the field.
Anthony Jones, finished with a team-high 28 points while USCAA 1st Team All-American, Dennis Miles, finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Leading the way for the Conquistadors was Quantavis Hall who finished with a game-high 30 points and 8 rebounds. USCAA 1st Team All-American, Regan O'Rourke, finished with 27 points.
NEXT UP: Concordia College-Alabama will now face #1 Daemen College on Thursday, March 5th at 8:00pm in the Main Arena of Penn State Fayette. #5 Florida National University will play in the consolation bracket against #8 Indiana University South Bend on Thursday, March 5th at 11:15am in the Maltho Arena of Penn State Fayette.
