Uniontown, PA – In Women's Division I basketball action, the Southern Virginia University Lady Knights defeated the Robert Morris University-Springfield Lady Eagles 46-44. Ann Kuroki hit a layup with 0:52 seconds remaining to give the Knights a lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
USCAA Second-Team All-American Amaris Newkirk led the Knights with 17 points and 21 rebounds in an impressive bounce-back performance from a tough opening round game on Wednesday. Abigail Logan contributed a second Knights double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Crystal Cleveland also added eight points and 14 rebounds in the winning effort.
The Eagles were led by USCAA All-American Cassandra Baker who racked up 11 points and seven rebounds in the loss. As a team Robert Morris University-Springfield shot 27% from the field and struggled to take care of the ball, committing 20 turnovers in the contest.
