UNIONTOWN, PA – The top-seeded Central Maine Community College Mustangs defeated Penn Brandywine in Women's Division II consolation bracket action by a score of 79-65. The Lady Lions started the game on a 21-3 run before the Mustangs punched back with an impressive 25-0 run to take a lead late in the first half that they wouldn't relinquish.
Central Maine was paced by USCAA All-American Maggie Sabine with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists. Fellow All-American Susie French added 18 points (8-11) and 8 rebounds. Danielle McCusker chipped in 12 points for a Lady Mustang team that rebounded from starting the game shooting just 9% to finish at 45%. Central Maine capitalized on 22 Brandywine turnovers and converted them into 30 points.
The Lady Lions received 17 points from Emily Lawry-Thompson, 16 from Lauren Munro, and 10 from Brandy Flowers to lead their offensive attack. Flowers also added 10 rebounds for Penn State Brandywine. As a team, the Lady Lions had just 13 assists in the game and shot 35% from the field.
