#5 Berkeley (NY) 76 - #8 Penn State Fayette 66
UNIONTOWN, PA- The Berkeley College (NY) Lady Knights defeated the Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions 76-66. Berkeley took a commanding 42-28 lead at halftime and were able to hold off Fayette in the second half to secure a trip to the Women's Division II basketball National Championship game.
The Lady Knights were led by USCAA All-American forward Milan Germany who put up a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Berkeley College (NY) also had two other high scorers, Aiyesha Brown and Janay Thomas who scored 20 and 19 points respectively.
Penn State Fayette got a great performance out of Second Team USCAA All-American senior point guard Kasey Ruble. Ruble scored 19 points while also collecting 10 rebounds and handing out 5 assists. The Lady Roaring Lions shot well from behind the arc going 10 of 24 (41%) for the game. However, Berkeley College (NY) was able to stay out in front by scoring 20 points off 21 forced turnovers.
Berkeley College (NY) moves on to face Albany College of Pharmacy in the USCAA Women's Division II National Championship finals in a matchup of two Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference schools. The game will be played Saturday in the Main Arena at 6:00 PM.
