UNIONTOWN, PA- In Friday morning consolation action the second-seeded Andrews University Cardinals defeated the Penn State York Lions 72-70 in a game that went down to the final seconds. Andrews led the majority of the first half and held a comfortable ten-point lead going into halftime. The sixth-seeded Lions were able to make things interesting late in the second and took their first lead of the game on a layup from Tyler Martin with 31 seconds remaining. After a missed free-throw by Logan Steckel, Junior Orelus buried a three-pointer with thirteen seconds remaining to send Andrews University to victory.
Cardinals' forward Matthew Little led Andrews with 30 points (12-18) while collecting five rebounds and four steals. Tyler Wooldridge and Jerome Murray contributed 14 points each for the Cardinals. After storming out to a 17 point lead early in the first-half, Andrews watched the Lions go on a 19-5 run late in the first half to close the gap before the Cardinals regained control of the game until late, setting up for Orelus' game-winner.
Ben Todd scored 18 points (8-14) and had 13 rebounds to lead a Penn State York that was hot from three-point range for the entire game (8-14). Evan Ehrhart had 14 points and Steckel had 11 to supplement the Lions offensive attack.
